I have been bow hunting for elk with my son for 6 days during the last 2 weeks. Camping out, enjoying the outdoors, the comradery, the night time visits, the intricate planning…that sometimes works… and always thinking this is going to be the moment we do it all right. What could be better??? While we harvested no elk we were less than 100 yards from bulls and cows on several different occasions. Hearing bulls bugling and cows talking when you are so close is incredibly exciting. Just seeing the beautiful country we were in was a bonus. Montana is so beautiful this time of year. And being out in it, trying to get within 50 yards and call in a bull elk is just a wonderful experience. I am thankful I live where I do and can still climb the mountains, (granted a bit slower than I used to be able to), and enjoy these moments with my son. What a treat! I am blessed.
